My VIC-20 is fixed. Attached is a photo of the repaired keyboard that you are welcome to use for marketing if you wish. I considered your idea about continuous strips, but I actually think that the individual pieces work better in this application because they will fit in between the keys and allow the PCB to mount flush with the plastic frame as it in intended. If there was plastic in between the keys it would no longer mount flush.
